Vaughan Wittman, Ph.D.
Director of Immunoassay Development
Vaughan joined VaxDesign in 2006. He has been involved in biotechnology research and development for more than 30 years. At VaxDesign, Vaughan leads a team that uses our unique system to evaluate the immunogenicity and efficacy of vaccines and vaccine components, characterize response to therapeutic proteins and develop novel evaluation methods for studying the cellular and humoral response.
He has worked at one of the original biotech companies, Cetus Corporation, as well as at a large diagnostics business, Dade International (Baxter Diagnostics). Vaughan’s interest in the immune system developed during his work at two start-up biotech companies, Sunol Molecular Corporation and Receptor Logic (through Texas Tech University). His work at Cetus and Dade included the molecular biology of bacterial expression systems, recombinant protein expression and characterization, recombinant protein production and process validation. While at Sunol and Receptor Logic, he focused on the cloning, characterization and expression of receptors of the immune system and antibodies. Vaughan was a founding member of two biotechnology companies and has 8 patents or patent applications.
