Customers and Collaborators
Depending on the project, VaxDesign works with companies as collaborators or customers. Sometimes, a single company works with us as a collaborator on one project and a customer on another project. What is the difference?
Customers
Customers have fee-for-service relationships with VaxDesign on a non-exclusive basis for more discrete task-based projects. VaxDesign performs the task as directed by the customer and provides the results to the customer. These kinds of contracts typically are for routine assays that require fairly standard interpretation and analysis, and typically little, or no, innovative new methods development.
Collaborators
Collaborators are strategic alliance partners who work exclusively with VaxDesign to develop a new vaccine or similar project whose success requires innovation and substantial intellectual contributions from VaxDesign. Strategic alliances typically include up-front fees, research payments, and success-based payments, and may include royalty payments.
